1950′s inspiration

Some inspiration boards I’ve put together of 1950′s fashions. As you can see I’m slightly obsessed with the shelf bust, example worn me Elizabeth Taylor. I found in my research there seems to be some controversy in what exactly qualifies as a shelf bust. I’m hoping to shed a bit more light on this in a later blog post I’m putting together all about 50′s fashion.

I’m thinking the Harley Quinn dress design should remain close to that of the original and the flared iconic circle skirt of the 50′s is a must. But I think Poison Ivy should be sexier, I myself love Uma Thurman’s Poison Ivy costume and I’m really being influenced by Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks. Wiggle dress, emerald green, with possibly a detachable over skirt? or some other detail to the skirt?

And now for something thats completely unrelated to the 1950′s. Some new patterns arrived today which i’m very excited about. I’m trying a new approach to buying patterns, I have a good sized collection of patterns that mainly consist of pretty dresses that aren’t really wearable for day to day wear. So I was thinking about the styles of clothing I wear the most of and the pieces of clothing that I love wearing, these are the patterns that I would make again and again.
