Vintage Fair

I went to a vintage fair at Chester race course on Sunday. I was really well behaved too, I only took out the amount of cash I could afford to spend and had a little shopping list in mind. Two things on my list where a pair of gloves and a 1930′s or 1940′s hat. Here’s what I bought..

My first buy was this navy hat. It’s not 30′s or 40′s and needs a bit of TLC but I love the flower and I seemed to be drawn to navy at the moment. It looks 50′s in appearance but i think it could possibly be made in the 70′s.

Pair of vintage white lace gloves. These are gorgeous and fit so well, I find modern glove buying difficult as a have tiny hands. I’m hoping to make a white 20′s day dress soon and these will look great with it. I also bought a pair of black leather driving gloves, these don’t fit as well but I had to have them.

And another vintage sewing book to add to my ever growing collection. It has beautiful illustrations and a great chapter on lace inserts. I will do another post in the future about it in more detail.

Finally I bought this amazing crochet blanket. I have wanted one for ages and it made my day, i thought it was a really great price too. I think I’m going to have to start collecting them. They make me happy. Would just like to add that I bought it from a stall called Recollections which have a shop at Brimstage Hall, if you live in the Wirral area it’s a great place to visit. http://www.brimstagehall.com/ You can also find them on Facebook.

Feeling inspired now to wrap up cosy warm, sew things and dress up!
